CU @ Lunch with Cooper Union Alumni Begun in 1997, CU @ Lunch with Cooper Union Alumni focuses on the work of recent graduates who can speak about the vital issues they face following graduation. The program.s objectives are to provide career-development programming for architecture and art students by drawing on alumni expertise; facilitate the development of alumni-to-student learning and relationships; provide independent and faculty alumni with a professional-development opportunity, by offering a public platform in which to present their work; and create a unique intellectual forum for students, faculty, and staff that focuses on topics of interest to the Cooper community. Since the program is typically held in the AlumniSpace, an informal loft apartment within the Student Residence, it also helps to build an academic community beyond traditional settings. Announcements for each event are made available online as a student resource. The brief text about the speakers serves two professional development purposes: it documents the career path and undertakings of each the speaker and presents students with a repository of potential contacts. The Career Center works with Cooper's Center for Design & Typography to produce the announcements, adding a visual richness to the CU @ Lunch Archive. |
