CU @ Lunch with Cooper Union Alumni
Learn directly from alumni speakers through the CU @ Lunch program. It is one of the Career Center's most effective forums for educating architecture and art students about how to make a successful transition from study to practice.

Professional Internship Program: Information Sessions
Beginning their sophomore year, Cooper students in the Schools of Architecture and Art become eligible to participate in the Professional Internship Program. It provides a stipend to students while they work in otherwise unpaid internship. Administered by the Career Center, the Professional Internship Program is a formal experiential learning arrangement.

End-of-Semester Internship Evaluation Forums
Join the art career counselor and Cooper interns in an open forum in which students discuss their internship experiences. This is an excellent way for students to learn directly from other students about a variety of internships and hear firsthand experiences of working at those sites. When appropriate, students show examples of work they completed during their internship.

Résumé and Cover Letter Workshops
Students should begin developing their application materials early on in their academic experience at The Cooper Union, using the online résumé and cover letter resources and requesting critiques from the Career Center. The Career Center will hold workshops periodically to assist students in refining their application and presentation materials required in the job search.

Past workshops have included an alumnus and/or alumna who posted a position at various colleges of art and design. Speaking from an employer's perspective, the presenter discussed the recruiting process and shared a wide range of anonymous application examples that ranged from successful to ineffective.

Senior Etiquette Luncheon
Join us for lunch at The National Arts Club, a venue of particular interest for architecture and art students. Consultants from The Madison Group will discuss business etiquette and offer suggestions on how to feel confident in any professional situation, including business lunches that an architect might have with colleagues or a client or an artist might have with a gallerist or a collector. The luncheon is an informative and fun event that will help to enhance students. professional image.

Art Graduate School Roundtable Discussion
In the fall semester, the Career Center hosts a roundtable discussion on Art Graduate School, exposing all interested Cooper students to the various reasons for pursuing an art graduate degree, the general process of choosing a program, the practical methods of completing a competitive application, and what to expect after graduation. In addition to addressing these broad issues, the event focuses on a single art graduate program, so that students also learn about the specific process for the individual program. Resources for funding art graduate school are also made available. In addition, the Career Center will periodically host additional graduate school panels, exposing students to a variety of options, including Law School and Medical School.
