Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) The Career Center offers free administration and interpretation of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator personality assessment. This assessment is designed to increase self awareness by identifying personality preferences. The MBTI can be useful in understanding how your personality relates to your career choices through exploring communication, information-gathering, decision-making and organizational styles. The MBTI is named for Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, the mother-daughter team that developed the instrument based on the theories of psychologist Carl Gustav Jung. First published in 1962, Myers and Briggs began creating it during World War II in order to help women who were new to the workforce identify suitable jobs. To begin, contact us to gain permission and correct login information to take the Strong Interest inventory. Then, enter the SkillsOne website. You will need the Login and Password that your counselor provided you. At your first login, you will leave the User ID blank. You will define your User ID as you take your first assessment. If you need to return to the SkillsOne website in order to resume a previously started assessment, you will need to remember your User ID. Please contact the Center for Career Development to schedule a follow-up appointment to review your results. |
